Seasoned on a variety of AEROSPACE & TELECOMMUNICATION key areas since 1985, Mr. Celso Merege has been personally serving (as an employee) a number of giant multinational corporations, such as XEROXINTEL, UNISYS and MARINER (see Success Case “TELEFÒNICA / ERICSSON / MARINER”), developing a vast and solid commercial international experience on that industry, either selling products or services.

Created in 1999, right at the very beginning of the Brazilian Telecom privatization process – when Mr. Celso Merege started and first run the Brazilian subsidiary of SES (SES-AMERICOM do Brasil), largest geo-stationary satellite operator in the World at that time – MEREGE Ltd was focused on the satellite driven business opportunities in Brazil, eventually running Latin America operations for some of those corporations.

From geostationary satellite operation to nano/cube satellites, across GEO / MEO / LEO orbital plans, MEREGE Ltd has been dealing with a wide variety of satellite technologies, targeting different market approaches at different moments of this timeline.

Through launching vehicles, launching bases (sub-orbit rocket payload testing services, prototype building services), teleport equipment, teleport deployment, teleport operation, satellite TT&C services, payload data processing, teleport services (uplinks, SCPC, MCPC, SNG contribution) and many other services, there were many business cases fully exercised.

Along the following 20 years, MEREGE Ltd happened to unfold a large variety of great selling opportunities all over Latin America, for a number of satellite international operators, in both ground infrastructure and space segment, such as SES (see Success Case “STAR ONE”), O3b (see Success Case “O3b”), AONESAT (see Business Case “SGDC”) and ANANTH (see Business Case “SGDC”).

Nowadays, Brazil is in promptness for accelerating the development of any space related product / service / industry. December 29th, 2021, through Portaria AEB nº 756, officially published on December 31st, 2021 (Diário Oficial da União nº 247) – AEB – Brazilian Space Agency – has released the PNAE 2022 – 2031, supporting the Brazilian development of space related or dependant products & services, in a variaty of areas.

Further than the government & Defense constellations, The Brazilian satellite launching plans now unfolds through private launching as well, hence a complete, consistent and flexible TT&C service offer would be necessary to get along.

AEROSPACE & DEFENSE, synergistic approach

In 2013, MEREGE Ltd was hired by an Indian corporation (ANANTH Technologies) to start multiple aerospace business development fronts beyond the satellite market. Initially starting by searching for international cooperation between private companies on geo monitoring services, quickly migrated into develop space agencies cooperation  (AEB – Brazilian Space Agency and ISRO – Indian Space and Research Organization ), in search for launching service recurrent opportunities, eventually turning into cooperation on launching vehicle technology projects or regular launching service opportunities.

By 2018, the managed opportunities had already permeated Defense, turning it into a strong AEROSPACE & DEFENCE scope and service portfolio.

Due to the India government recent decision of allowing private market companies to directly sell defense products to India government, and due to the large defense market now available in India, MEREGE Ltd brought to the table a “Make in India” approach to solve the Brazilian Defense market lack of commercial scale.

That basically consisted in proposing joint-venture operations based in India for long-term production, in order to cross benefit on both India and Brazil incentives or subsidies, in a way the Brazilian Defense provider could benefit on the India´s Defense market big commercial scale and, most important, to make its Defense projects viable for leveraging Brazilian Defense consuming market at its small demand level, while the majority of sales would sustain the project through India demand and the international market side.
