Active since 2004, STELLA Tecnologia is a 100% Brazilian company dedicated to the development of unmanned aerial systems for employment in the defense sector. Its team is composed of professionals with wide knowledge in the defense industry, specifically unmanned aerial systems.
Stella has already flown its giant Atobá MALE UAV (picture above) and is discussing prospective sales to the Brazilian armed forces before progressing into full system certification. The Atobá is the largest UAV platform ever developed in the Southern hemisphere.
Stella wisely defines itself as being a “sensor-agnostic air platform developer”, so the type of sensor or its source being entirely at the discretion of the client organization.
Stella’s ambitions in this segment are even more impressive than the Atobá. These ambitions go far greater than what has been achieved with this initial model. A second slightly more compact fixed-wing UAV system, the Albatroz, is now being developed by Stella specifically for intelligence gathering operations from the Brazilian Navy’s Atlântico, a Multipurpose Helicopter Carrier. Atlântico features a long flight deck but has no catapults, a system that is made redundant by Albatroz’s inherent STOL flight characteristics.
Stella expects to very soon start developing the much larger model CONDOR to address the Brazilian Air Force long range UAV needs.
